It's easy enough

If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Things you only discover in another country

It takes being in another country to appreciate some of the finer things about google. Like changing your pre-chosen language settings in the preferences area...

Google, I love you!
Google, I love you!

There's an Elmer Fudd too, which made searches so much fun.

Apple may pull iPhone from Canada

The new iPhone has had considerable buzz all over the world. And many disgruntled consumers due to the Telco's unreasonable plans. Now, it appears that while initially we would just receive a limited number of iPhones as punishment to Rogers, We may not get them at all. Without going to an outlet that will have limited numbers at best.

Interesting consumer times, my friends.

My hands are far too delicate to ever even think about pulling this off, but I think the craftsmanship is pretty amazing. Click the image to be taken to the shop.

Happy friday geekery

Oh the geeky have the coolest things. Fuck your 'plasma' TVs. I want plasma speakers.

The speakers use a plasma arc to create compression waves instead of the traditionally boring magnets and cones. The pitch is altered by the constantly shifting intensity of the plasma arc (the creator puts the frequency response range at 200Hz to 12kHz, and the speaker runs at 50W).

This video is of a set of plasma speakers in use, I had no choice on the music though:

And just for fun, because bigger is better for the visuals and music alone, two tesla coils in synch and hooked up to a guys laptop. The kicker? They play at over 110 decibels. You know they're in some field somewhere scaring the cows:

"'To be' is now interchangeable with 'to have,' so teens measure their self-worth according to how much they've got—in this case, how many partners they can rack up or how many friends they have on MSN," says Bastian. "Sexuality becomes another iteration of the same model their parents follow: identity expressed through quantity."
